Tucked away in the southern part of Austria, the summit hosts a ski lift (Gipfelbahn Goldeck) and a big communication tower.

The road to the summit is totally unpaved 4x4 vehicles only. It has 4 hairpin turns. It is very steep, hitting an 11% of maximum gradient through some of the ramps. The road is closed to private vehicles.

Starting at the paved Goldeck Panorama Road, the ascent is 2.3 km (1.42 miles) long. Over this distance the elevation gain is 180 meters. The average gradient is 7.82%.

Is the road to Goldeck open year-round?

Set high in the eastern Alps, this road is usually impassable from late October through late June or early July (depending on snow).
