Certovica is the highest paved mountain pass of Slovakia

Čertovica is a mountain pass at an elevation of 1.242m (4,074ft) above the sea level, located on the boundary of Žilina and Banská Bystrica regions of Slovakia. At this elevation it’s said to be the highest paved mountain pass in Slovakia.

Is the road to Certovica paved?

Set high in the heart of the Low Tatras, the road to the summit is totally paved. It’s called Route 72. The summit hosts a ski resort, a hotel and restaurants. Access to the pass is typically open all year round but short term closures are common in winter due to dangerous weather conditions.

How long is Certovica pass?

The pass is 20.7 km (12.86 miles) long running from Nižná Boca to Jarabá. The road to the summit is very steep, hitting a 9% of maximum gradient through some of the ramps.
