The scenic coastal 64H-1 road in Russia

Road 64H-1 is one of the greatest drives in the Russian Sakhalin Oblast. It has a well-deserved reputation for being dangerous because of unpredictable snowstorms and blizzards. The road is 623km long.

The road is mostly asphalted but includes some corrugated sections. It’s also a very scenic coastal drive. 64H-1 road links the cities of Nogliki, the administrative center of Nogliksky District and Yuzhno-Sakhalinsk.

Do not travel this road in severe weather conditions. Avalanches, heavy snowfalls and landslides can occur anytime, being extremely dangerous due to frequent patches of ice. This track can get very muddy and slippery after rain making it challenging to get through. The road is really remote.
