86К-14 Road, an awe-inspiring route through extremely remote areas

The 86К-14 Road is a spectacular and lonely experience in the heart of the Republic of Karelia, in the northwest of Russia.

The road is mostly unpaved, with some paved sections. It’s 211km (131 miles) long running from Medvezhyegorsk, the administrative center of Medvezhyegorsky District in the southeast of the republic, towards Suoyarvi, the administrative center of Suoyarvsky District.

The road is usually covered by snow and ice most of the year. Drive at moderate speed. You’re not on a race. Ideal time to travel is daylight. Not advised night drive.
