Ursoaia Pass: a challenging road to the summit
Pasul Ursoaia is a mountain pass at an elevation of 1,324 m (4,343 ft) above sea level, located on the boundary between Cluj and Alba counties, in Romania.

The pass is located in the northwestern part of the country, within the Parcul Natural Apuseni.
Is Ursoaia Pass paved?
The road through the pass is mostly paved, with some gravel sections. It is called Transursoaia Road (DN1R). The road includes steep sections and hairpin turns, and it's narrow in some areas. Caution is required, especially in those narrow sections.
How long is the road crossing Ursoaia Pass?
The road is 80 km (49.7 miles) long, running south to north from the town of Albac (in Alba County) to Huedin (in Cluj County).
Is Ursoaia Pass open in winter?
Set high in the Apuseni Mountains, the pass is usually impassable from November to April, depending on weather conditions.
