Golemo Ezero

Golemo Ezero

Golemo Ezero is a high mountain post glacial lake at an elevation of 2.272m (7,454ft) above the sea level, located in the southwestern Republic of North Macedonia. It’s one of the highest roads of the country.

Set high in the National Park Pelister, the road to the summit is totally unpaved. The road is impassable in winters. Great trail for experienced wheelers. Avoid driving in this area if unpaved mountain roads aren't your strong point. It is 233m, 162m deep and has depth of 14.5m. With maximum depth of 14.5 m, it is the third deepest natural lake, and deepest mountain lake in the Republic of Macedonia.
4x4 required. Stay away if you're scared of heights. Expect a trail pretty steep. Wet conditions may make for tough driving along the muddy road. The lake is located in the original part of Ezerska River, a left tributary of the river Sapuncica Located on the shore of the lake there is a mountain hut. Hut is open year round. In the kitchen you can prepare food while they sell drinks. It has water but no electricity. In the hut there are 60 beds.
