How to get by car to Lake Bogovina in Polog?

Liqeni i Bogovinës is a high mountain lake at an elevation of 1,945m (6,381ft) above sea level, located in the municipality of Bogovinje, in the Republic of North Macedonia. It's one of the highest roads in the country.

The lake, also known as Lake Bogovinje, is located west of Tetovo, in the Polog region, in the western part of North Macedonia, near the Kosovo border.

How long is the road to Lake Bogovina?

The road to the lake is totally unpaved and very defiant, as it has many big rocks along the way. 4x4 vehicles with high clearance only. Starting from Novo Selo, the road is 6.59km (4.1 miles) long. Over this distance, the elevation gain is 739m (2,426ft) and the average gradient is 11.21%.

Is the road to Lake Bogovina open in winter?

Set high on the northern side of the Brustovec mountain range at Šar Planina, the road tops out at 2,218m (7,276ft) above sea level. It’s usually impassable in winters.
