Gergeti Trinity
Gergeti Trinity is a high mountain church at an elevation of 2.178m (7,145ft) above the sea level, located in the Mtskheta-Mtianeti region of north-eastern Georgia.
Built in the 14th century, it’s said to be one of the world’s most beautiful churches. The church is located in the Great Caucasus Range. The road to the summit was asphalted in 2018. Traffic signs were installed and horizontal marking works were carried out on the new road. Due to the high elevations and exposure, the road is subject to strong winds and rapid weather changes. Be prepared for the cold and wind! The narrow old access road to Gergeti Church will operate in parallel with this new road.
Starting from the ს3 road on the village of Kazbegi, which is now called Stepantsminda, the ascent is 5.7 km long via 7 hairpin turns. Over this distance the elevation gain is 437 meters. The average gradient is 7.66%.
