Driving the coastal road to the beautiful Stara Baška

Stara Baška is a small coastal village located in Primorje-Gorski Kotar County, at the southernmost tip of Krk Island, in Croatia.

Is the road to Stara Baska paved?

The road to the tiny village of 100 inhabitants, in the northern Adriatic Sea, is called ŽC 5125. It’s fully paved with sweeping views over the sea. The town, also called Old Baska, was founded in the 14th century and it is home to many of the most beautiful beaches on Krk Island. Due to the frequent winds, the surrounding hills are bare and only low vegetation grows on them.

The lonely road is 13km (8.07 miles) long, running north-south from Kornić to the small beach town of Stara Baška, in the bay of the same name. 

Is the road to Stara Baska challenging?

The road tops out at 184m (603ft) above the sea level. The drive is pretty winding and steep, hitting a 14% of maximum gradient through some of the ramps. Be careful: many vehicles are parked along the road during the summer (you may get a ticket).
