Where is Vihren Chalet?

The hut, built in 1939-1941 by the Bulgarian Tourist Union of Bansko, is located on the left side of the rocky shore of Bunderitsa River, in the southwestern part of the country, within the Pirin National Park.

Is the road to Vihren Chalet paved?

The road to the hut is fully paved yet pretty narrow and steep. Starting from the parking lot for Ski center Bansko, the road is 5.2 km (3.23 miles) long. Over this distance, the elevation gain is 314 m, and the average gradient is 6.03%.

Is the road to Vihren Chalet open in winter?

Set high in the Pirin Mountains mountain range, the area receives snowfalls in winter, so before planning the trip, you better check the condition of the road.
