Wielangta Forest Drive

Road trip guide: Conquering the Wielangta Forest Drive

Wielangta Forest Drive is the name of a very scenic drive in the South-east region of Tasmania, running through tall eucalypt production forests.

Tucked away in the Wielangta Forest Reserve, the road is totally unpaved. It’s 20km (12.42 miles) long running south-north from Dunalley to Orford.

A 4x4 vehicle is required. The road is a short cut between the Tasman Peninsula and the East Coast. Running through tall eucalypts, there are areas along the track which are poorly maintained. Please note is a gravel road if you are in a hire vehicle.
