Haast Highway

Haast Highway

Haast Highway is a spectacular and scenic road located in the West Coast of New Zealand's South Island. It's one of the most scenic coastal drives in the world.

The road is part of the State Highway 6. It’s asphalted and links Haast, an area in the Westland District territorial authority and the Fox Glacier in Westland Tai Poutini National Park. It’s 118 km long. There are sheer drops virtually along the entire route and enough hairpins to make a whirling dervish dizzy. It’s and incredible drive where you will drive right along by the coast at various times.  There are lots of places to stop, little hidden bays and places to take in the scenery.

NOTICE: Due to the spread of COVID-19, many points of interest and roads are closed and travel is not recommended. Please follow all local health authority directives before venturing off, and stay safe.
