Aramoana Road is a very scenic coastal drive located in the South Island of New Zealand. It's one of the most beautiful coastal drives in the world.
The road is asphalted. It’s 10.7 km long. The road is winding and in many places bordered by a drop of several meters unprotected by guardrails, directly to the sea. The road along the coast links Port Chalmers and Aramoana.
Aramoana is the site of the deadliest criminal shooting in New Zealand history: the Aramoana massacre, when a 33 year old man killed 13 people.
