Dampier Lookout

Road trip guide: Conquering the Dampier Lookout

Dampier Lookout is a lookout at an elevation of 1.245m (4,084ft) above the sea level, located in the state of New South Wales in the country of Australia.

Located in the Deua National Park, the road to the lookout is totally unpaved. It’s called Dampier Mountain Fire Trail. It’s an exceptional 4x4 experience. The trail is 16.9km long. It was named after the English sailor and buccaneer, William Dampier.

This is a very steep track, requiring low range second gear for large parts. Snow falls occasionally at this trig in the winter which could increase the difficulty level by a few stars too! The road heads towards Bendethera Valley and has a lot of switchbacks.
