The road was completed in 1913. Prior to that, the area was accessed by a rough bush track suitable only for packhorses.

Is the Licola Road paved?

The winding road is entirely paved. Part of the C-486 Road, it’s of good standard. However, it features never-ending twisties and undulating countryside. It’s heavily used by bikes in weekends.

How long is the Licola Road?

The road is 53.0 km (32.9 miles) long, running north-south from Licola (in the Shire of Wellington) to Lake Glenmaggie. Allow more than an hour for the trip.
