Set high on the western side of the Blue Mountains, the road is 15.3 km (9.50 miles) long, running from the City of Lithgow to Darling Causeway.

Is Hartley Vale Road sealed?

Tucked away within the Blue Mountains National Park, the road was totally paved in 2020. Plan about 20 minutes to complete the drive without any stop.

Is Hartley Vale Road challenging?

The road is pretty curvy and features narrow parts. It is very steep, hitting a 14% of maximum gradient through some of the ramps. The road climbs up to Hartley Pass, at 924m (3,031ft) above the sea level and Browns Gap, at 1.034m (3,392ft) asl.
