Mahodand Lake

A very bumpy, grueling road to Mahodand Lake

Mahodand is a high mountain lake at an elevation of 2.865m (9,400ft) above the sea level, located in the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province of Pakistan.

The lake, also known as Mahudand, lies at the foothills of Hindu kush mountains. The road to the lake is totally unpaved. 4x4 vehicles only. It’s tricky and bumpy. It’s called Saifullah Lake Road. The drive is 24km long starting from Matiltan. Drive with care as this is a mountain road with hairpin curves and dangerous dropoffs. It’s pretty narrow. The lake is only accessible during the summer season and access during winter is limited. It’s covered by heavy snow. High risk of avalanches. Expect snow even in summer.
