The dangerous Rudrabeni-Ridi Road along the Kali Gandaki River
Located in the Lumbini Zone of central Nepal, the Rudrabeni-Ridi road is one of the most dangerous roads in the world. This route is not recommended if your passengers are prone to car sickness.
This scary cliff road is called Shantipur Road and links the small towns of Rudrabeni and Ridi. Drive with care as this is a mountain road with hairpin curves and dangerous dropoffs. It’s 10.8 km long, running along the Kali Gandaki River.
The road is heavily trafficked by trucks and buses. It’s very narrow and unprotected by guardrails. This road tests the skill, and courage, of any driver. It’s definitely not for anyone suffering from vertigo or a fear of landslides. Do not travel this road in severe weather conditions. Avalanches, heavy snowfalls and landslides can occur anytime, being extremely dangerous due to frequent patches of ice.
