
A steep road to the top of Kadan Khyasaa
Kadan Khyasaa is a high mountain pass at an elevation of 2.417m (7,929ft) above the sea level, located in the Khövsgöl Province of northwest of Mongolia.
Nestled in the Khoridol Saridag mountains, the road to the summit, also known as Khyasaa Uul and Khyasaaya Uul, is totally unpaved. 4x4 vehicle required. The final section to the summit is closed to private vehicles.
The trail, one of best tracks of the country, is tough and steep. Starting from Khovsgol Lake´s western shore, the trail is 6,1 km of long. Over this distance the average gradient is 11,5% with a maximum gradient of 19,3%. Accessibility is largely limited to the summer season. The road offers stunning views above the Khovsgol Lake.
