A Paved Road to Shine Davaa

Shine Davaa is a high mountain pass at an elevation of 2.637m (8,651ft) above the sea level, located in the Bayan-Ölgii Province, in western Mongolia.

Nestled in the Altai Mountains, the road through rugged landscapes is totally paved but full of steep and sudden turns. It’s called Asian Highway 4 (AH4).
The pass is 64.7 km (40.20 miles) long running north-south from Tsagaannuur (a sum of Bayan-Ölgii Province with a few small grocery stores and a couple of guesthouses) towards Ölgii (the capital of the Bayan-Ölgii Aimag). The area experiences a desert climate with long, very dry, very cold winters and short, warm summers.
