Where is Aktog Pass?
The pass, known locally as Pereval Aktog is located in the eastern part of the country, near the border with Kazakhstan. It runs alon the Sary Jaz river.
Is the road to Aktog Pass unpaved?
The road to the pass is difficult: it’s more a mule trail than a road. Only 4x4 with high clearance will make it. The road comprises grassy sections, narrow parts, drops and many steep sections.
How long is the road to Aktog Pass?
The road is 40km long, running north-south from Typyk to Capbl.
How challenging is Aktog Pass?
The area is very remote, with no phone signal. Be ready to travel at high altitudes and in extreme weather conditions. It’s usually impassable in winters.
