The pass is located north of Song-Kul Lake, in Kochkor district, in the northern-central part of the country.

Is the road to Chaar Archa unpaved?

The road through the pass is totally unpaved. A 4x4 vehicle is required. It comprises very steep parts and 4 hairpin turns. Heavy snow blankets the summit during winter at this elevation, causing the road to be impassable from October to March.

How long is the road to Chaar Archa?

Starting from the paved A367 Road, near Kyzart Pass, the road to the summit is 5.79km (3.6 miles) long. Over this distance, the elevation gain is 509m (1,671ft) and the average gradient is 8.79%.
