Bedel Pass

The closed road to Bedel Pass, on Kyrgyzstan-China border

Pereval Bedel is an international high mountain pass at an elevation of 4.093m (13,428ft) above the sea level, located on the border between Kyrgyzstan and China.

Nestled in the Tian Shan Mountains range, the pass was heavily used in the past. It was part of the Silk Road, the trade route between China and Central Asia, and linked the Issyk-Kul Region of Kyrgyzstan with mid-Western Xinjiang, People's Republic of China.The pass is currently closed to traffic. There’s only a gravel road on the Chinese side. 4x4 vehicle required. Accessibility is largely limited to the summer season.
