An iconic road to Amir Kabir Dam in the Alborz mountains

Amir Kabir Dam is a high mountain dam at an elevation of 1.610m (5,280ft) above the sea level, located in Alborz Province, northern Iran.

Set high in the Central Alborz mountain range, the road to the dam, also known as Karaj dam, is called Karaj-Chaloos Road (Road 59). The road is paved and features several hairpin turns and tunnels. The dam, located between the villages of Pol-e Khvab and Khuzankola, was built to provide tap water for Tehran.
