Located between the villages of Pol-e Khvab and Khuzankola, the reservoir, also known as Karaj Dam, was built to provide tap water for Tehran.

Is the Road to Amir Kabir Dam Paved?

Set high in the Central Alborz mountain range, the road to the reservoir is fully paved. It’s called Karaj-Chaloos Road (Road 59). It features many hairpin turns and tunnels.
