Driving the paved road to Lavash Pass in the Alborz Mountains

Lavash Pass is a high mountain pass at an elevation of 3,151m (10,337ft) above sea level, located in Mazandaran Province, Iran. It’s one of the highest roads in the countryhighest roads in the country.

Is Lavash Pass paved?

Located in the northern part of the country, the road through the pass is totally paved, in pretty good condition. However, it features countless curves, many hairpin turns, steep sections, and narrow parts.

How long is the road through Lavash Pass?

The road is 63km (39 miles) long, running west-east from Pol-e Zanguleh to Baladeh.

How dangerous is Lavash Pass in winter?

Set high in the Alborz Mountains, the road is very dangerous in winter, so extreme care is required. Be sure to bring chains because the road is often icy and hazardous. The whole winter is snowy, and you can see snow until the end of May.
