Hamboting La

Hamboting La is a high mountain pass at an elevation of 4.056m (13,307 ft) above the sea level, located in Ladakh region, in the Indian state of Jammu and Kashmir.

The road to the summit is asphalted. It’s called Kargil-Batalik Road. There are sheer drops virtually along the entire route and enough hairpins to make a whirling dervish dizzy. This route is not recommended if your passengers are prone to car sickness. The pass is also known as Hambuting La.
A JK police post is there on the top of the pass. It’s usually  impassable in winters. The climb is simply terrible, with a notorius lack of oxygen that tests the organisms and a high degree of steepness. Most people feel altitude sickness at around 2,500-2,800 meters. Near the pass, oxygen is in short supply.
