The Kolleru Wood Bridge is not for the sissies
Located in West Godavari district of the Indian state Andhra Pradesh, the Kolleru Wood Bridge is one of the most spectacular bridges in the world.
The fragile structure built with wooden logs is 140m long over the Upputeru river. It’s traversed by the Alapadu-Kolletikota Road. Only 2 wheelers and cycles/pedestrians can ply on the bridge. The bridge was constructed by the residents themselves raising funds from their own sources. Inundation of the bridge is inevitable with flood waters coming into Kolleru Lake in July and August months during the monsoon.
