Crossing the Hong Kong–Zhuhai–Macau Bridge
China opened on 24 October 2018 its latest megaproject, the world's longest sea bridge: the Hong Kong–Zhuhai–Macau Bridge, also known as HKZMB or HZMB. It’s one of the most spectacular bridges of the world.
The new bridge connects Hong Kong and Macau with mainland China. It’s 55km (34 miles) long and six lanes wide, at 20 times the length of California’s Golden Gate Bridge. The bridge has cost about $20bn (£15.3bn). The bridge is designed to withstand earthquakes and typhoons.

It’s 14 miles longer than the distance from Dover to Calais.
It was built using 400,000 tonnes of steel, enough to build 60 Eiffel Towers.
It’s 20 times the length of California’s Golden Gate Bridge.
