The mountain road to Najia in Tibet

Najia is a high mountain town at an elevation of 5,154m (16,909ft) above sea level, located in the Tibet Autonomous Region of China. It's one of the highest accessible towns by car on Earth.

Where is Najia?

The town is located in Coqên County, in Ngari Prefecture. The wind in Tibet is usually quite strong in mountain areas. Even in summer, the temperature might drop from 20°C at daytime to -10°C at night. In July and August, it may rain continually for several days, and you can even encounter snowy days.

How long is the road to Najia?

The road to the town is totally unpaved. It’s called 728 Country Road. Starting from the paved S206 Road, near Sagemo, the drive is 16.7 km (10.37 miles) long. It’s one of the highest roads in the country.
