S207 Provincial Route

S207 Provincial Route is a high mountain road located in the Ngari Prefecture, in the Tibet Autonomous Region of China.

The road was recently asphalted. It’s 82.2km long. The road is simply terrible, with a notorius lack of oxygen that tests the organisms and a high degree of steepness. Most people feel altitude sickness at around 2,500-2,800 meters. Near the pass, oxygen is in short supply. It links the G219 road and the small town of Burang (also known as Purang).
The S207 runs along two big lakes: Lake Manasarovar and Lake Rakshastal. The road tops out at 4.804m (15,61ft) above the sea level. The wind in Tibet is usually quite strong at mountain areas. Even in summer, the temperature might drop from 20°C at daytime to -10°C at night. In July and August, it may rain continually for several days and you even can confront with snowy days.
