Where does the X607 road lead?

The X607 is 138 km long, running south-north from the village of Jiwaxiang to the junction with the X603 road. The track skirts several high-altitude lakes like Gemang and Ngangze.

Is the road to X607 unpaved?

The road is totally unpaved, made of loose gravel and fine desert soil. The entire 138 km road stays above 4,600 meters, reaching a peak of 5,089m.

Can I drive my vehicle on the X607 Road?

This is not a place for standard SUVs; you need a heavy-duty 4x4 to manage the deep ruts and the sandy sections. After rain or during the spring thaw, the track turns into a series of washouts and mud traps that make progress nearly impossible.

How remote is the X607 Road?

There is absolutely nothing along these 138 kilometers; once you leave Jiwaxiang, you won't find a single house or workshop until the end of the route. You must carry extra fuel cans because there are no gas stations.
