The road to the summit is completely unpaved. A 4x4 vehicle is required. The road was built by China for military purposes, and due to its restricted nature, it is closed to civilians.

How Long Is the Road to Tartkul Pass?

Starting from Qaraterek, the road stretches about 40 km (24.85 miles). It is a very steep climb, with an elevation gain of over 1,045m.

On the Kyrgyz side, there is no connecting road leading to the pass.
