
Doxong La tunnel: watch out for oncoming vehicles in the dark
Located in Mainling County, in the prefecture-level city of Nyingchi, in southwest China's Tibet Autonomous Region, Doxong La tunnel was finished in 2021.
Set high at 3.555m (11,663ft) above the sea level, the tunnel bypasses the infamous Doxong Pass (Doxong La) in eastern Tibet Autonomous Region. The road is totally paved. It’s also called the Laohuzui Tunnel. It’s 2,114-meter long.
Construction of the tunnel started in 2014 and opened on May 2021. The tunnel carries a 67.22-kilometer new road connecting Pad Township, Nyingchi town, and Medog County.
