Driving the dizzying 564 Country Road

Located in Zogong County of the Chamdo Prefecture in the Tibet Autonomous Region of China, 564 Country Road (Y564) is the name of a defiant road through the mountains with many deep drop offs.

Set high in the region of the Nujiang River, the winding road is paved in places. It features steep ascents and descents, hairpins and many deep drop offs. The road is 74km (45.98 miles) long, running east-south from China National Highway 214 to Zhonglinkaxiang. It tops out at 4.854m (15,925ft) above the sea level.
