The lake is located in Kangmar County, in the southern part of Tibet, not far from the border with Bhutan.

Is the road to Shimo Lake unpaved?

The road to the lake is totally unpaved and in pretty bad condition. Despite being mostly straight, with no significant turns, the drive is very challenging due to the road condition. A 4x4 vehicle with high clearance is recommended.

How long is the road to Shimo Lake?

The road is 7.2 km (4.47 miles) long, running west–east from Dilicun to Ezha. It’s mostly flat: over this distance, the elevation gain is 137 m and the average gradient is 1.90%.
