
Anglet Daban: enjoy a road among the clouds
Anglet Daban is a high mountain pass at an elevation of 3.189m (10,462ft) above the sea level, located in Qapqal Xibe Autonomous County in Ili Kazakh Autonomous Prefecture in Northern Xinjiang, in China.
Tucked away in the Tianshan Mountains, the road to the summit is totally paved. It’s called S237 provincial road, aka the Yizhao highway. The road is very steep. A parking lot with stunning views is located at the summit. Remember to bring your camera. It´s said to be one of the most beautiful roads of Xinjiang.
The road is 229 km (142 miles) long, running from Ili, in Northern Xinjiang of China to the border with Kazakhstan, in Raiymbek District of Almaty Region. The drive is thrilling and frightening at every step. The road is usually closed from October to May.
