
A dangerous road you may want to explore to Hongpinshan
Hongpinshan is a high mountain pass at an elevation of 5.621m (18,441ft) above the sea level, located in the southwestern part of Hotan Prefecture of Xinjiang Autonomous Region, in China. It’s one of the highest roads of the country.
The road to the summit is totally unpaved. 4x4 vehicle required. Accessibility is largely limited to the summer season. Facilities like electricity, medical aid, hot running water, western toilets etc. are rare to find. There are high chances of getting affected by AMS (Altitude Mountain Sickness). Temperatures here in the winter are brutally cold. It plummets as low as -55 C in the winters. This pass links Tianhegou with Bingliangou. The road is totally closed to foreigners.
