How to drive the paved road to the Riyue La
Riyue La is a high mountain pass at an elevation of 3.529m (11,578ft) above sea level, located in Northeastern Qinghai Province, in China.
Where is Riyue La?
The pass (Sun and Moon Mountain) is located in the western part of the country at the Tibetan Plateau. The summit hosts many pagodas and a big parking lot.
Is Riyue La paved?
The road to the summit is fully paved in good condition. It’s called Ri Yue Line.
How long is Riyue La?
The pass is 9.1 km long, starting and ending at Qinghai-Tibet Highway (part of the China National Highway 109).
How steep is Riyue La?
The climb is very gradual, never too steep, and has been featured in the Tour of Qinghai Lake (Riyue Pass), a cycling professional race.
