The road to the summit is the 318 National Road (G318), the Tibet-Sichuan highway. It’s unpaved bumpy and hard to drive. Expect changeable weather and cool temperatures at higher altitudes. The road going up to the pass is 46.6 km long, located west of Xinduqiaozhen and east of Bajiaolouxiang. Some sections of the road don’t have any guard rails to provent vehicles from straying into the deep gorges. The road was bypassed by the 5.7km long Gao’ersi tunnel.
