The lake is located to the east of Mets Ishkhanasar mountain, and links the Syunik Province of Armenia and the Lachin District of Azerbaijan, within the Lake Sev Nature Reserve.

The road to the lake is totally unpaved, curvy and bumpy. It’s called Sev Lake Road and features 14 hairpin turns, narrow parts and steep sections. 4wd vehicle required.

How long is the road to Sev Lake?

Starting from Verishen, the road to the summit is 16.9 km long. Over this distance, the elevation gain is 1126 m and the average gradient is 6.67%.

Can I drive to Sev Lake?

The road to the lake is impassable in winters. Keep in mind that Lake Sev and the surrounding area are currently the subject of a border crisis between Azerbaijan and Armenia.
