Is the road to Omar Pass unpaved?

Set high in the Murov range of the Lesser Caucasus, within the Goygol National Park, the road to the summit is totally unpaved. It’s called R19. The battle for the Omar Pass (winter 1993-1994) is one of the most bloody episodes of the final phase of the Armenian-Azerbaijani Karabakh war.

How long is Omar Pass?

Tucked away in the western part of the country, the pass is 75.4 km (46.85 miles) long running north-south from Goygol (the capital of the Goygol District) to Yanşaq (in the Kalbajar District). The site is reached only by four-wheel drive in good weather (the best time to visit is between mid July and the end of August).
