Kotal-e Ghar Jawin

The road to the summit, also known as Gharjawin pass, is gravel, rocky, tippy and bumpy at times. One mistake can have serious consequences. The road is usually impassable from October to June (weather permitting). Avoid committing your vehicle to what is in front of you until you are sure of what you are getting into because things could get worse. It is already unclear if this is Taliban controlled area or not, so off-limits. Obviously you would have to really (!) check what is going on now. You might want to contact your embassy in Kabul as they have really the best info. 4x4 vehicle required. This is definitely not a Sunday drive. The steep drive will take some skill, some patience, and some tolerance for vertigo.
