Travel anywhere in Afghanistan remains extremely dangerous due to a highly volatile security environment, frequent terrorist attacks, ongoing armed conflict, and a significant risk of kidnapping, especially for foreigners. Most embassies have suspended operations, meaning consular assistance is extremely limited. Overland travel is particularly hazardous, as terrorist and criminal groups often set up fake checkpoints and roadblocks to carry out robberies, kidnappings, or violent attacks. Anyone in the country is advised to exercise extreme caution and understand that personal safety cannot be guaranteed under the current conditions.
