The road to the summit is totally unpaved and very steep, hitting a 20% through some of the ramps. 4x4 vehicles only. Ideal time to travel is daylight. Not advised night drive. Accessibility is largely limited to the summer season. Facilities like electricity, medical aid, hot running water, western toilets etc. are rare to find.
Starting from Paghman, a town in the hills near Afghanistan's capital of Kabul, the road to the summit is 12km long. Over this distance the elevation gain is 1.745 meters. The average gradient is 14.54%.
