Volkswagen's electric car breaks the all-time record at Pikes Peak

On June 2018, the French auto racing driver Romain Dumas climbed behind the wheel of the electric Volkswagen I.D. R and beat the all-time Pikes Peak record from Sebastien Loeb by setting the first-ever time under eight minutes.

The time not only breaks the record for the fastest electric car, but eclipses the all-time record set in 2013 by Sebastian Loeb's modified Peugeot 208 by 16 seconds. Pikes Peak Hillclimb is an annual automobile race in Colorado. The race covers 12.42 miles, 156 turns, and 4,720 vertical feet.
