Smuts Pass

Smuts Pass is a high mountain pass at an elevation of 1.916m (6,286ft) above the sea level, located in the Eastern Cape, South Africa.

The road to the summit is gravel. It links Dordrecht and Molteno. Only 4wd vehicles. Do not travel this road in severe weather conditions. It’s steep, with sections up to 1:4. This track can get very muddy and slippery after rain making it challenging to get through. Expect snow here in winter and serious weather at any time of the year.During and after a storm the road may be impassable, even with a four-wheel-drive vehicle. This route should not be attempted by inexperienced off-road drivers or in a single vehicle.
