A tricky desert road to Fish River Canyon
Located in the far south of Namibia, close to the border of South Africa, Fish River Canyon is the largest canyon in Africa.
Located within the Richtersveld National Park, the road to the canyon is 57km (35 miles) long, starting from C10 road. The road is totally unpaved. 4x4 vehicle required. Nestled in the middle of the desert, the drive is pretty remote. There is no mobile phone reception in the canyon.
Fish River, is one of the most impressive natural beauties in the southern part of Namibia. The canyon is 160km long (from Sesriem down to the Orange River), 27km wide and reaches a depth of 550m. It’s said to be the second largest canyon worldwide after the Grand Canyon in the USA.
