Remhoogte Pass

A very steep and dangerous road to Remhoogte Pass

Remhoogte Pass is a high mountain pass at an elevation of 1.556m (5,104ft) above the sea level, located in central Namibia. The road is very steep and dangerous, not recommended for people who are afraid of heights. It’s one of the highest roads of the country.

The pass is located on the gravel road D1261 between Solitaire and Nauchas. This route is good if you are a little apprehensive about heights, or your ability to traverse a serious mountain pass. The road is pretty steep, with sections over the 10%. Open to all motorized vehicles, however, strongly recommended for high clearance, 4-wheel drive vehicles. The road is very rough--only try driving it in a 2wd car, if you're planning to buy a new car.
