Sandwich Harbour, a crazy rollercoaster 4x4 dune driving

Sandwich Harbour is a freshwater lagoon surrounded by dunes, located on the Atlantic coast of Namibia.

Sandwich Harbour

The drive is truly epic and very scenic. Situated at the Atlantic coast, 50 km south of Walvis Bay, Sandwich Harbour, sometimes called Sandwich Bay, is a lagoon with huge sand dunes (up to 100m-high) running straight into the ocean. It’s said to be the single most important coastal wetlands of Southern Africa.

Part of the Namib-Naukluft National Park, a 4x4 vehicle is required. Be ready for any type of weather driving between the crashing ocean and ancient sand dunes of the Namib. At high tide, this narrow strip of beach is submerged by the waves breaking against the dunes, making the bay inaccessible. It's pretty epic, but the drive will most certainly be stressful, so just be aware of that.
