Tizi Tigdane
Tizi Tigdane is a high mountain pass at an elevation of 3.006m (9,862ft) above the sea level, located in the High Atlas mountain range, in the Drâa-Tafilalet region of Morocco. It’s one of the highest mountain passes of Morocco.
The road to the summit is gravel. It’s very narrow and steep. In many places the road is bordered by a drop of hundreds of meters (many hundreds of feet) unprotected by guardrails. The road goes through a dramatic gorge and the climb is unrelenting. Endless hairpins carry the gently graded piste higher and higher. Only 4x4 vehicles.
This road tests the skill, and courage, of any driver. It’s definitely not for anyone suffering from vertigo or a fear of landslides. At the summit there’s a radio transmitter. Do not travel this road in severe weather conditions. Avalanches, heavy snowfalls and landslides can occur anytime. High winds are common.
